Sedation
In case of sedation the patient is given a sedative, which makes him/her fall into a state of twilight sleep (sedation), during which his/her perception is reduced and after which he/she will only remember little or nothing at all about what happened in the meantime. In contrast to anaesthesia, no breathing tube is inserted.
Anxiety and pain are significantly reduced by the sedation, but it is basically only appropriate for short interventions.
