Your dentist for anxious patients

Many patients are naturally afraid of dental treatment. In at least every tenth patient, however, the fear of the dentist can assume such proportions that mental and physical symptoms appear. Anxious patients often develop a clear avoidance behavior towards appointments at the dentist: either they keep putting off an urgently needed and planned appointment or they do not even consider making an appointment with the dentist.

If you are familiar with this avoidance behavior or even have a dental phobia, we would like to be by your side as your understanding dentist for fearful patients in Zug. In our practice we will find the best treatment concept for you together and help you – despite your fears – to maintain your dental health.

Dental phobia – with time, understanding & experience for successful treatment

The range of symptoms associated with dental phobia can range from inner restlessness, which is subjectively experienced in a very negative way, to circulatory collapse. These symptoms can be based on specific negative experiences in the past or be related to a general anxiety disorder. Fear of the dentist is not uncommon.

Thanks to our many years of experience with anxious patients, we regularly see how we can successfully master appointments with empathy and individual consultation with our patients. Be it a “simple” prophylaxis appointment or dental treatment: we take our time to look after you according to your personal needs.

Supporting measures for dental anxiety

As you dental practice for anxious patients, we consider not only personal and sensitive care for our patients, but also relaxation and pain reduction to be valuable components of treatments for dental anxiety:

  • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) anaesthesia is a gentle variant to reduce pain sensation, relieve anxiety and relax the patient.
  • A mild sedation ensures a pleasant twilight sleep and the patient has little memory of the treatment afterwards.
  • With general anaesthesia, the patient is completely without consciousness and therefore free from fear and pain.

When treating your teeth, we use the method that is most suitable for you. In doing so, we take into account your personal and subjective feeling as a patient, general medical factors and, last but not least, our long-term experience as dentists.

Treatments

Healthy teeth also for patients with dental anxiety

For patients with dental anxiety, it is particularly hard to keep their teeth healthy. Our experience shows that detailed information about the treatments, their course, the sensory perceptions to be expected etc. is important and a first step towards future dental treatment.

Would you like more details about the types of sedation or general anaesthesia? Or do you have a specific concern about dental phobia? You are welcome to contact us and have an advisory conversation with a dentist of your choice as a first step. We look forward to your visit and to welcoming you as a patient!
