Custom made braces for adults

To create transparent aligners for adults, your dentist-team will begin by digitally scanning your teeth. Using these scans, a 3D model of your teeth is created on the computer. This model then forms the basis for the treatment plan, which outlines the expected progression of tooth movement.

By simulating the tooth movement to the desired final position, the individual stages between the initial and final positions of the teeth can be identified. These stages form the basis for the clear aligners. The major advantage is that the desired result can be viewed and discussed with you beforehand. If you approve the treatment plan, a custom-made clear aligner is then manufactured for each stage of tooth movement.

Short treatment time and easy handling

The duration of treatment varies from person to person. In most cases, it takes between 3 and 9 months to achieve the desired result. Depending on the treatment duration and individual progress, a different number of clear aligners are required.

Generally, each aligner must be worn for approximately 2 weeks and then replaced with the next one, so that a new aligner is used for each phase of tooth movement. By continuously inserting the next aligner in the treatment series, the teeth are moved step by step into the desired position. Ideally, the aligners should be worn 24 hours a day.

Regular visits to your dentist in Zug are necessary for progress checks.

Advantages of clear braces

Because the clear aligner is custom-made for each patient and, as a removable aligner, is not fixed in place, it offers uncomplicated handling. Unlike fixed braces, which are usually used in orthodontics for children, cleaning is straightforward. You can brush your teeth as usual and don’t have to adjust to anything new. Here, too, the invisible aligner has advantages compared to fixed braces: it can be easily removed for eating and drinking, which also makes oral hygiene easier. It also prevents unsightly tooth discoloration, which wearers of conventional braces sometimes suffer from due to less-than-ideal oral hygiene. Misaligned teeth can be corrected gently and without bothersome clamps, screws, or brackets using the aligner system.

However, not all misalignments can be treated with this method. Likewise, the clear aligner is not suitable for children during the transition to permanent teeth or for teenagers.
