Custom-made “invisible” braces step by step

At the beginning, our dental team will digitally scan your teeth.
Based on the scans, we generate a 3D model of your teeth on the computer.
Using this digital model, we create your individual treatment plan and simulate the tooth movements until they reach their final position. The individual intermediate stages form the basis for the clear aligners. Thanks to the simulation, you can visualize the desired result even before treatment begins.
We will discuss the visualized result with you in detail and agree on the goals together.
If you approve the treatment plan, we will custom-make a clear aligner for each stage of tooth movement.

Time frame and procedure of the treatment

The duration of aligner treatment varies from person to person. In most cases, it lasts between three and nine months. Depending on the treatment plan and individual progress, a different number of clear aligners will be needed.

Each aligner is typically worn for about two weeks and then replaced with the next one. A new aligner is used for each stage of tooth movement. By continuously inserting the next aligner, the teeth move step by step into the desired position. For optimal treatment progress, wear the clear aligners for adults as continuously as possible, ideally for up to 24 hours a day.

Regular check-up appointments take place at our practice in Zug. We monitor the progress of the orthodontic correction and ensure that the treatment is proceeding as planned.

Practical handling of the aligner braces in daily use

As removable aligners, clear braces for adults offer a multitude of advantages – especially compared to conventional fixed braces, which are mostly used in orthodontics for children:

Easy cleaning: You can brush your teeth as usual and don’t have to adjust to any new routine. Simply clean the aligners separately and then put them back in.
Easier oral hygiene: Before eating and drinking, simply remove your aligners so that no food particles are left behind and plaque doesn’t have a chance to form.
Reduced discoloration: Because oral hygiene is unrestricted with aligners for adults, plaque doesn’t build up permanently on the tooth surfaces, helping to preserve your natural tooth color.
Comfortable wearing experience: Tooth alignment is corrected gently and without bothersome clamps, screws, or brackets.

Limitations: When other methods are more suitable

Aligner treatment is not suitable for all types of misaligned teeth. For more complex misalignments or pronounced bite deviations, other orthodontic procedures are necessary.

Furthermore, clear aligners are not used for children during the transition to adult teeth or for teenagers. During this phase, the jaw and tooth position are still changing significantly, so fixed appliances often provide more reliable control of tooth movement.
