Partial and complete dentures
Dentures are removable tooth replacements.
Partial dentures are used for partly dentate jaws
and are anchored with
clasps, stud attachments,
etc. onto remaining teeth and/or implants.
By contrast, complete dentures are used for
edentulous
(toothless) jaws. These can also be
anchored with stud attachments
or bars supported
by implants, thereby providing much improved
retention,
greater security and improved masticatory function (see “Implantology”).
